The Easy Way to Change Your Yahoo Password

The Easy Way to Change Your Yahoo Password
By Peter Garant

One of the most common problems that arise from using email is changing your password. However, the process is still a mystery for a lot of people, especially those new to email and the Internet. Fortunately, once understood, the process is not all that complicated.

How to Alter Your Yahoo Password

The first step is to log in to your account. Enter your user name and password, and click "sign in" or just press the enter key.

The next step is to go to the My Account tab. It is near the top of the page usually right next to the "sign out" option. There you will see several options there for modifying and customizing your mailbox. Look for the one marked "Change Password".

Step 3 is to click that link. You will then be prompted to type your current password in the text box. Next to it is another box where you should type the new one.

Step 4 will have Yahoo asking you to retype new password. This is to make sure that you have entered it correctly. The final step is to click save, so the changes you made can take effect.

What if I Forgot My Password?

If you keep typing in your password and are unable to log in, check to make sure that the caps lock key is turned off. If it is, look over your user name to see if it is correct. Often, the Yahoo password is correct but the user name isn't.

If you are sure that the user name is correct but are unsure of the password, click on the "forgot your password" link at the bottom of the Yahoo Mail page. A wizard will pop and ask you a series of questions. If you followed the process of signing up, the wizard would have asked you a question to help you recover a lost password (i.e., "what is the name of your pet?").

Other questions will be asked at this point, including the birth day, month and year that you put in. It is for occasions like this why mail services ask for this information. Therefore it is important that when you sign up for an account, you keep a record of the data that you entered, so that you will not have any trouble confirming it when you are asked.

Answer the questions and you will be able to retrieve your password. Then you can change it to something else that you will not have trouble remembering.

Choosing the Correct Yahoo Password

When selecting the right password, you should strike between finding one that is not easy to decipher but at the same time not to difficult to recall.

Most would suggest an alpha numeric combination (i.e., abc123). When selecting a password you will see a bar indicating the relative strength of the password that you chose. If you have chosen one that is quite long, you should jot in down in Notepad or on a piece of paper to make sure you don't make a mistake or forget it.

It should also be noted that when you change your Yahoo password, it will take effect not just on your email, but also in the other services that you might be using, such as My Yahoo, Yahoo Chat, Yahoo Messenger and Yahoo Finance.

Search Engine History Data - How to Delete Google, Yahoo, Dogpile and Other Search History

Search Engine History Data - How to Delete Google, Yahoo, Dogpile and Other Search History
By Adrian Brooks

As you probably already know, the default settings for web browsers (such as Internet Explorer) and toolbars (such as the Google Toolbar) is to keep your search history available.

Why do they do this? Because many people find websites or search results, then need to find them again but do not remember how they found them in the first place. Using your search history is a good way to recreate your steps.

But what if you do not want to have anyone know where you were looking or what you were searching for? Yes, we can all think of at least one reason we would not want other people to know what we were browsing for online, right?

But there are other reasons you might want to keep this information secret. For example, you suspect your spouse of cheating on you. Or you are looking for another job, but do not want your boss to find out. Or how about something totally innocent...like you do not want your kids to know what you have been looking at for them for Christmas?

Regardless of the reason, you may want to delete search history from your Google or Yahoo toolbar, or from search sites such as Dogpile. Google and Yahoo toolbars make it simple to clear your history.

On the Yahoo toolbar, you simply click on the yellow pencil icon (Toolbar settings), and choose Clear Recent Searches. That is all there is to it!

On the Google toolbar, click the Down arrow to the right of where you enter your search and you will see your search history right in front of you. Down at the bottom, you will also see a link that says Clear History. Just click that link and it is gone.

If you would like to completely disable your Google Toolbar's search history, click the "Options" button on the Toolbar and un-check the box next to "Drop-down search history."

If you do not want search histories generated in the first place, regardless of what search engine you use, you can always change your browser settings.

In Internet Explorer, this is done from the Tools menu. Click on Internet Options/Content/AutoComplete and then you can uncheck the Forms box to stop your search history from being saved.

Safari users can enable the Private Browsing function. This prevents both search histories and cookies from being saved. Safari, once only available to Macintosh computer users, is now available to Windows users as well for free.

After you download and install Safari on your computer, you simply open it up and choose "private browsing" from the edit menu. You can then feel comfortable using Safari and knowing that your search history and browsing history are both private to you.

My Yahoo Search - Beyond Bookmarks

My Yahoo Search - Beyond Bookmarks
By Jakob Jelling

Yahoo has long offered email, an online calendar, notes, bookmarks, and more through their free My Yahoo service. Now Yahoo has expanded this service even more by adding My Yahoo Personal Search to the mix.

Personal Search is another way of storing bookmarks, but with more features than the older bookmarks offered. To use Personal Search, you add a My Yahoo Search button to your browser links bar (supports IE, Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape, and Safari).

When you find a page you like, you click on the button to add the page to the "My Web" section of Personal Search. You can perform a search and optionally save or block any results pages. Of course, you can also enter a URL directly, then click the Search button to add that page into My Web as well.

Your My Web contents are accessible from any computer with Internet access, so it functions as an online bookmark storage service. Typically, bookmarks are stored only within the browser on the computer you normally use, so online availability is a convenient feature if you travel.

The results stored in My Web are both shareable and searchable. To share, you select the pages you want to share, and click the Share button. Easy enough. You can share directly from search results as well, without adding the page to My Web.

Once you have some pages stored in My Web, you can then easily search within those pages to find what you're looking for. This isn't a simple search of a description field like those offered by some browsers. This is an actual live search of just the pages you've stored in My Web. Pages stored in My Web can be sorted by date, search terms, or URL.

All in all, My Yahoo Personal Search is a very useful addition to the Yahoo collection.

Free Email Services - Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail - Whats the Difference & Who's the Best?

Free Email Services - Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail - Whats the Difference & Who's the Best?
By Jamal Hartage

If you're looking for an email service provider, you might be overwhelmed by all of the choices you have to sort through. They might all seem the same and have similar features, but some are better than others.

Let's start with # 3:

Microsoft Live Hotmail

Microsoft has been providing e-mail for many, many years. It has evolved into a 5 GB storage powerhouse. It provides you with good amount of security, but doesn't have the best spam filtering service. In my experience, a good amount of spam gets through the filter and into your inbox. On the plus side, you can chat with your MSN messenger friends directly from Hotmail, making live conversations that much faster.

# 2:

Yahoo! Mail

Yahoo! has a reputation for keeping the status quo on e-mail although in the past few years (very little change) they've been trying to reverse that thinking. You can now chat with your Yahoo! contacts as well as attach files as large as 100MB with the built in application for drop.io. Its spam filtering is as good as you could hope for coming from a free service.

#1:

Gmail

Google is the reigning king of webapps. Gmail has the most built in features of all the popular email services. Unlimited storage, the ability to create, edit, find, publish, and save documents all within your Google account. It's spam filtering is superior to other email service providers.

You can even have shared calendars, get your e-mail on your phone, and a whole host of other options. This service will not leave you wanting anything else as it is all there for you, waiting for you to launch it.

Yahoo Profile - Find the Perfect Date Using Yahoo Personal Profiles

Yahoo Profile - Find the Perfect Date Using Yahoo Personal Profiles
By Sorcmagiwizlv Lagoga

Your Yahoo! Personals Profile is a chance to really let the true you shine. It's your sales pitch and you're one-time only first impression. You're looking for someone special, right? Of course. You want someone who will appreciate you for who you are and let you always be yourself. So be honest and have fun with it!

Step one is talking about yourself. You'll need to let prospective dates know what you look like, how you spend your free time, and what your personality is like. Are you slim and athletic, or do you have a more voluptuous body? Are you a social butterfly, or more shy and reserved?

Do you live alone, or do you have roommates or kids? Tell your matches whether religion is important to you, how many years of college you've completed, and what you do for a living. These are all important details that you'll want to know about your matches as well, so remember, the more information you can give, the better.

In Step two you get to shine the light on your matches, choosing everything from height and eye color to whether or not they have children, have been married, smoke, or like TV game shows. Is his astrological sign important to you?

Should her sense of humor match your own? How about religious affiliation or profession? Don't hold back. This is your chance to special order your dream date! The best part about this stage is that you can designate which criterion is the most important to you. If you're flexible on height and eye color but simply will not date a drinker, you can list that as the most important matching aspect.

Step three is the fun part, but it's also the part that most people struggle with - the personal essay. For many this stage conjures up traumatic memories of high school standardized tests and college applications. Don't stress yourself out! You don't have to go overboard here; you're not being graded. And you can always go back and edit what you've written.

It's best to stay away from clichés like "I've never done this kind of thing before" or "I'm looking for someone who is honest." Talk more about yourself, the things that interest you and the things you hope to accomplish one day. People will admire your drive and your sense of self.

Last but not least, upload a photo of yourself. Profiles with photos get the most hits and your matches are more likely to contact you if they can see a photo of you first. It may seem shallow, but when you meet someone face-to-face for the first time, appearance matters. Just because two people hit it off over email doesn't mean they'll be attracted to each other physically.

Adding a photo to your profile ensures that the people who contact you are genuinely interested in meeting you. Now you're ready to start contacting matches through Yahoo! Personals! Good luck and happy dating. There may be a lot of toads out there, but thanks to your personal Yahoo! dating profile, you shouldn't have to kiss any!

My Personal Experience With Yahoo Domains

My Personal Experience With Yahoo Domains
By Gabriel J. Adams

I have been using Yahoo Domains (through Yahoo Small Business) for several years now, and I have to say that I am very satisfied with my experience with Yahoo. At the time that I chose my domain, there were only a few reputable registrars on the market, and I have seen many either spring up or become more popular since then (such as GoDaddy, for example).

One thing that is great about choosing Yahoo to register a domain is that they have been in business for over a decade with their search engine and other great products to service not only average consumers, but also small businesses and big businesses alike. Because they have a reputation for quality, it's easy to trust them as a domain registrar.

The thing I really like about Yahoo personally is that you can register your domain and maintain other aspects of your site's setup easily and effectively. To make things more enticing, Yahoo provides excellent 24/7 customer service and support, so you are never left in a lurch should you encounter any questions or problems.

Getting my domain was easy and straight-forward. I simply created my Yahoo Small Business account, searched for the domain that I was interested in securing - and it was available so I purchased it! For only like 10 bucks a year, you really can't go wrong. That may be a bit more than some of the competition but Yahoo makes it worthwhile with their additional services and features that they include with registering your domain through them.

You have a few options that vary in terms of cost, depending what you are trying to do with your Yahoo Small Business account. For example, if you want to simply register a domain and do basic things like redirects and so on (which I do, actually) you can do that with their most basic plan. However, if you're looking to do some more sophisticated things like basic or advanced website building, you can opt to pay either a little more for basic or a lot more for advanced services.

I like the flexibility of being able to upgrade my account if I choose to use Yahoo for more than just domain registration. That makes me sure that as my small business grows, I will be able to stay with Yahoo and upgrade as my updated budget allows.
